My Sister's 21st

A little while ago, my sister turned 21. The whole family seemed to just expect me to do a speech. And what's worse, they all expected me to do a really good job. I was thinking about what to say for weeks, but I only actually put pen to paper half an hour before the party. While everyone was getting ready, I was sitting on the couch thinking "What can I say about a person with whom I have very little in common?"

And then it hit me.

  2. Very funny, Michael! You had an appreciative audience in those kids at the front.

    1. Well it could have been another animal, but there wasn't enough of it left to really tell :P

  4. I'm assuming the running over the cat was a joke, because I'm pretty certain your sweet little sister would have beaten you for that.

Big brothers mean a lot to little sisters. I know mine gave me noogies, but I still thought they were the most awesome.

    1. She certainly would have, and it was :) I've never quite gotten a grasp of how much responsibility I have to her. The idea that she might look up to me surprises me.

  5. That's nice. In my family we pretend we don't know each other. You did not run over a cat.

    Love,
    Janie

  7. Delightful memories to share with you little sister. I have a big brother who I adore, and he is just 3 years older than me. Hope you can remain close. My family is a wonderful source of support for me.

    1. Our family's never open with our support of each other. I think that made this particular speech more special.

  8. That was a fantastic speech and one your sister will cherish forever. I had 4 big brothers and they were so important in my life. Great job brother!!!!!

  9. That was funny and sweet and so well done. Cheers, man.

One of us is an only child and the other has a younger sister who's such a terrible person that she wasn't even invited to his own wedding because she would have invariably ruined the entire event for everyone. So cherish what you have with your own sister.

    1. I didn't see that one coming at all :P Well, you're not alone. I know a few people who fight a lot with their siblings. I wish I could give you some examples, but that's for the people involved to divulge :P
