Question of the Month (Launch)

A little while ago, I brought up the idea of a new bloghop called Question of the Month. Well, now that the dreaded A-Z Challenge is over and we've all run out of things to talk about, I think it's time to get it up and going! Here's how it will work:

We'll answer the question on the first Monday of each month. The question will be available via the tab at the top of this page and through an email I'll send out to all the people who have signed up. With every question, you've got to explain your answer. So for example, the first question we'll be answering is:

If your house caught on fire, what's the one thing you'd grab before running out?

Sure, you could just say "My purse" or "My toothbrush", but that wouldn't be enough. Why would you take your toothbrush? That seems like an awfully weird choice.

The signup list is below, as well as the badge to put on the post. The first one happens on Monday June 1 - schedule it in now!

  1. I never run out of stuff to write. Perhaps I can be persuaded to answer a question.

    Love,

  2. Michael, will you give us a lot of lead time to consider and write the post? Like two or three weeks at least, before we have to post it on the first Monday of the month? I couldn't turn it around fast enough if the prompt/email only came out a few days prior.

    1. Oh of course, I should have specified that you get a month to consider it :)

  3. Hey, what a coincidence. You actually asked us this very question during our Ask Us Anything, which we're answering tomorrow. Great minds think alike and all that! But... like Deb said, if we want to do this in the future, we definitely need more advanced warning. Those cartoons can't just get drawn on the fly. ;)

And I would save the cats. The inanimate objects can be replaced.

  11. That's such a hard question. I'm not quite ready to sign up, but I'm thinking about it. (I want to have something in mind first). I'm glad you're doing this, Michael.
    Cheers.

  12. Hurrah! More blogfest fun. I'm in. As for the fire question, I'd have to grab kids and pets first, then my laptop because I'm notoriously bad at backing up writing projects in a timely matter. No wait. Scratch all that. Why not grab a fire extinguisher?

Two years ago, I did set the stove on fire by leaving a cutting board on top, turning on the wrong burner, and leaving the room to (hang head in shame) work on the computer. By the time smoke reached my daughter's nose, the flames on the stove were about a foot high, but I smacked that sucker into submission with a cookie tin. Ha! Take that, stupid fire.

  14. I like answering question almost as much as I like asking them so how can I resist this? See, I just asked a question. I'll be combining my first one with a Battle of the Bands post since those always come on the 1st and 15th of the month.
